Hello Aitkin Students, Parents, & Community Members,
As of yesterday Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors decided on the plan for fall sports and beyond. Items to consider with the MSHSL return to play decision included the health and safety of all participants involved, aligning with MDE return to learning models, consistency for all sports, and providing the best possible opportunities for all activities to compete during the 2020-2021.
With the new information presented to the Aitkin Public School Activities Department and more specific information that will be released shortly, we will need time to process and review the new MSHSL Return to Play guidelines and restrictions that will take place for the fall season.
Below you will find information about fall sports from yesterday's MSHSL Board of Directors meeting.
-
Girls Tennis will start practice on August 17th. There will be modified schedules and spectator restrictions that will be communicated at a later date.

Football & Volleyball season will be moved to the spring with a March start date TBD. Spring season modifications and guidelines TBD.
-
Football and Volleyball will be allowed to practice only this fall with no competitions. Practice start dates for those two sports are still TBD.

Additionally, spring coaches will be allowed to coach their athletes this fall under a coaching waiver. What this looks like and what will be offered has not yet been determined by the MSHSL.
